New Medical Director


Marian Estates is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Grady, MD as the Medical Director of the 38 acre retirement living community. Michael received his Bachelors degree in Biology in 1972 and graduated from University of Santa Clara. He went on to receive his Medical Degree from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine in 1976. He completed a family practice residency at Valley Medical Center of Fresno in Fresno, California in 1979. He is board certified in Family Practice and has thirty years of practice experience. He has special interests and expertise in Geriatrics, Sports Medicine, and Occupational and Environmental medicine. Most recently he has worked at McClaine Street Clinic in Silverton, Oregon as the Medical Director as well as the Medical Director for Silver Gardens Nursing Facility.
He will provide Marian Estates with clinical guidance and recommendations while working with local physicians/ practitioners to provide the residents of Marian Estates excellent medical care.
Marian Estates is delighted Dr. Grady will be joining the campus and feel that he will be a wonderful addition. He has a great desire to provide high quality medical care to the geriatric population of Marian Estates and its 300+ residents.

Marian Estates DNS Receives Leadership Award




Marian Estates Director of Nursing Services, Judy Sherman has just been awarded the Oregon Health Care Association’s (OHCA) Leadership Award.

This award recognizes the achievements and commitment of an employee in an administrative, middle management, or supervisory position. Recipient’s leadership skills must have a positive impact on employee morale and resident quality of life. The recipient’s commitment to his/her employees, coworkers and residents is closely examined.

Judy Sherman has been an integral part of the Marian Estates retirement community for over 25 years. As the Director of Nurses she has brought a level of professionalism, dedication and compassion to the job while setting the expectations for keeping our residents healthy, happy and independent extremely high. The staff responds well to her and receives her guidance, direction and advice excellently due to the tremendous amount of respect they have for her.

On a daily basis, Judy fills many different roles and capacities for the 38 acre campus, all with a caring, tenderhearted attitude. She embodies the word “leader” and motivates her staff to strive for perfection.

Marian Estates is truly a better place with her around - the staff and residents both benefit greatly from her presence.

OHCA Champion of the Month


Reta Ellison, Lead Medication Aide at the Elliott Residence has been nominated as the OHCA (Oregon Health Care Association) Champion of the Month for June 2009. Reta has worked for the Elliott Residence at Marian Estates in Sublimity, Oregon for over 5 years. During her time at Marian Estates she has gone above and beyond with everything she does. Reta has been known to call in on her days off to check-in and make sure the resident’s are all okay, especially if one has fallen ill or if another has returned from the hospital. She cares about the needs of the residents. Reta has always been there for her co-workers and resident’s trying to improve the quality of care and work that is performed in the facility. The residents all speak very highly of her. She comes to work for the residents and she loves what she does every day – you don’t have to ask her, it shows. OHCA recognizes Reta for her contributions to enhancing the quality of life for residents, family members, the community, and to the working environment for staff and co-workers. Thank you for going the extra mile to ensure the well-being of residents and your co-workers and for your commitment to the long-term care profession.

Marian Estates Now Offers Hearing Services

Marian Estates is pleased to announce they have added to the amenities and services already provided within their complete retirement community.

Marian Estates has partnered with Stayton Hearing to create an opportunity for it’s 400+ residents as well as residents of the Sublimity/Stayton/Santiam Canyon area at large to receive the following services:
Free hearing evaluations
Free cleaning/checking of hearing aid equipment
Hearing aid/equipment sales
Hearing aid repair
Ear wax removal

Stayton Hearing at Marian Estates will be open regularly on Tuesdays from 10:00am until 4:00pm – located in the Reece Healthcare Center on the Marian Estates campus at 390 SE Church St. Sublimity, OR 97385. The owners, Don and Sunan Sutton can be reached at 503.931.2288.
